Regular visitors
At last I have caught our visiting woodpecker on camera! We have a wonderful variety of birds who feed from our motley selection of feeders hanging from our garden dovecot (no doves!) including this wonderful but shy woodpecker. He sounds his arrival every morning and evening by tapping very loudly on one of our empty bird boxes on a tree nearby before swooping in gracefully to the bird feeding station. He adores both the nuts and the suet block. Unfortunately the arrival of two mischievous magpies sees him fly swiftly back to the trees. There is definitely a pecking order for all our garden birds each morning, tits, chaffinches, robins, woodpecker and lastly two magpies. I love watching them all from my kitchen window.
